Dark Corners is a series of paintings born from silence from the places in my life I have neglected, forgotten or misunderstood.
These works explore the mental, emotional, spiritual and psychological spaces we inhabit quietly, where no one is watching and sometimes, not even ourselves. In these hidden rooms of the self, truth lingers.
To survive my environment, I discarded parts of myself. Not destroyed just hidden. I tucked them into unseen spaces, places the monster could never reach. This series is my quiet retrieval. A return to the pieces of me that waited patiently in the dark.
My inspiration comes from classical still life and impressionist painting genres that use colour to hold feeling, to capture the moment’s breath. But beneath the aesthetic lies something deeper.
